When you leave the hospital you will be given instructions for taking care of your body after the surgery and specific instructions for driving, activity level, medication, and any further restrictions. Your healthcare providers will also go over any symptoms that require immediate medical attention, such as fever, pain in your abdomen, or heavy bleeding. Be sure to ask questions or have the instructions repeated if they don't make sense.
It will probably take some time for you to heal all the way and get back to normal. Some people heal in a few weeks; some women need a few months. Please discuss the healing process with your doctor. He or she will let you know when it is okay to return to your normal activities.
While you are healing it is important to take care of your vagina. Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina until you visit with your doctor after the surgery. Your doctor needs to make sure that everything is healing.
