For most women with endometriosis, a hysterectomy makes the pain go away. Some women may still have a small amount of pain. The endometrial cells may grow again, but this doesn't happen very often.

If you are having a hysterectomy for endometriosis, talk with your doctor about also having your tubes and ovaries removed.
